Violent Soho’s recent Waco tour with DZ Deathrays and Dune Rats was a knock out and something the band had been wanting to do for ages.
It was a head-banging, hand-clapping affair from the very beginning.
With a lack of breaking from Violent Soho between songs, there wasn’t much other than full on jumping, head-banging and dancing being done for the entire 50 minute set. (People be gettin’ sweaty.) However, they did have time to say how happy they were that the crowd knew songs from the Waco album, which was only released two months earlier.
The gig had an epic vibe or something VS frontman Boerdam and the boys would call psycho.
I had a ripper time, loving every minute of it and happy to stay out longer while I can.
Special mention to Dune Rats who put on a wildly good show. The Brisbane boys were grateful for the eager Monday crowd. They pumped everyone up and created a humble house party atmosphere, getting someone from the crowd to do the classic Australian shoey. Although they missed the mark at times, their energy and sense of fun made up for it. Favourite song: Cover of Violent Femmes’ Blister in the Sun.
